Born in New Orleans and raised in Sun Valley, Idaho, Gwendolyn Rogers taught herself to bake, worked her way through life's hardest chapters, and — with a $300,000 loan and a dream — opened The Cake Bake Shop in 2014 out of a dilapidated cottage in Indianapolis. She paid off that loan within her first year. Today, her shops are booked months in advance, her cakes have graced Oprah's Favorite Things list twice, and she has opened a landmark location at Disney's BoardWalk Resort at Walt Disney World.
